Outdoor Growing

Growing marijuana outdoors can be one of the most complicated or simplest ways you make it! Outside you have many issues to deal with including rats, pigs, deer and a host of other animal and insect issues including human! It can also be very complicated due to weather conditions and what climate you are growing in.

Growing marijuana outdoors is relatively easy as far as putting it in the ground and letting it go, the question is what do you want to get out of that plant, how much work you want to put in it and what you can do to affect the best garden you can! If you are going to plant outside please consider the following things while you are picking a place because this can save you a lot of work later and  help insure a great crop.

If you live in the Midwest or north east then you have access to corn fields. Corn fields are a great place for several reasons, they get fertilized by the farmer, they are in an open area so they get plenty of sun and hopefully water. Corn also grows fairly tall so it helps hide the plants! Plants usually will grow taller than corn but that all depends on you and where/how you plant.  There are also several pitfalls to this area as well! The farmer may spray weed killer on the corn and if your plants are not old enough or strong enough this may kill them. The farmer may spot them and pull them which doesn’t happen often if you do not go in and remove a big section of corn. The cops find weed easily this way, especially if a large area is cleared for your garden! The weed is a different color than the corn, yes it’s green but a totally different shade! Easy to spot from a couple hundred feet especially with the right equipment! The way to plant in corn is to go in and remove two or three stalks of corn and then skip two or three and do it again, this gives your plants a little natural cover and makes it a little harder to spot by the eye or by their equipment, it’s also harder for the farmer to spot. You can either start your plants in containers and wait for the corn to get knee high before planting or you can go in and plant seeds, if you go in and plant seeds, wait till the corn is at least a foot high so the farmer doesn’t notice so easily! Also plant two seeds in each space, a lot of seeds will die for many reasons but this will give you a better chance of something growing, it also gives you a better chance at harvest because you can go in later and remove all the male plants which usually average about 50% give or take 10% and we want all females after all!! I have seen a lot of females come out of one group of seeds and I have seen a lot of males in the other direction, either way you’ll be covered!

In warmer climates along our southern states, you have corn fields as well but a much more suitable climate for growing outside, the only problem becomes water and water is the second biggest issue no matter where you grow! Sun is number one, water is number two and fertilizer is number three! If your plants get ample amounts of these three items, they will grow like weeds! The only issue will be how do you get all that somewhere where you can dry it.  If your in a climate that is hot and gets plenty of water then you can grow just about anywhere and the only issue is ground preparation. No matter where I plant be it in the woods, a corn field or along a river, I like to make a special mix of fertilizers along with some sort of conditioner such as lime! Lime takes the acidity out of the ground and this will help tremendously! Even if you have great black rich soil, this mixture will work. Turn the ground in the area you will be planting at least 10 inches deep and at least a foot in any direction from the plant, this will allow the roots to grow easily and fast! The faster the plant roots, the faster the plant will grow and the healthier it will be! You can read more on fertilizers in that section.

As I said there are many issues outside, animals can be disastrous if they find you garden, deer, rabbits and some others love the fresh green s hoots that come off the plants so they kill your plants by eating the tops off while they are young or ripping your plants apart if they start pulling on branches. Believe me animals should be a great concern to you if you want to get all that green work home! You can go all summer and not have a problem then the deer start to move and “BAM” you go out and your plants are ruined! Some people use deer and rabbit repellents and some people use human waste or human hair and put it close as to throw the deer and other animals off. If you can find a place where there are not a lot of animals you will be much better off, very hard to do though!

The bottom line is you do not want to work hard at this and you want the best return from your garden you can get! So pick places that have a combination of things. Look for places that are around water so if you do have to carry some it isn’t far! Make sure you pick a place for cover as well as access to plenty of sun and make sure you pick a place that you can work without being spotted! As we mentioned above, there are a lot off issues related to growing any garden and growing marijuana is not different! If you look at all these issues and find a good spot you should have a great product.

I’d be inclined to concede with you here. Which is not something I typically do! I enjoy reading a post that will make people think. Also, thanks for allowing me to speak my mind!

    Yeah,
I am suffering from Glaucoma and my specialist has had me use about 5 different drops to relieve the problem. Over two years nothing about my eyes has changed but I began suffering from asthma, had slight hand tremors, my throat was often hoarse, I had kidney stones twice and my self esteem went hiding on me. I told the specialist that I could not go on. Now I have been medication free for 6 months and my body is back to normal without ever a wheeze or a dry eye. I have been told that THC will help my condition without side-effects. Should I ask my specialist for a prescription for THC? If anyone could help me decide it would be muchly appreciated…

If you live in a medical marijuana legal state you may be able to see a doctor for the certification, if you do not live in a medical legal state you are going to have a hared time getting a prescription unless your doctor is a really good friend. Look up compassion clubs and medical cannabis certifications in your state. Webmaster
